NEOGEO AES+ has been delayed to September 16, 2027, as PLAION REPLAI expands manufacturing to meet unexpectedly high worldwide demand.
PLAION REPLAI first announced this on social media, expressing gratitude to everyone who responded so positively to the announcement of the new AES. However, due to supply constraints, they can’t manufacture enough consoles to deliver to the World by the launch date the community was promised. As a result, they are delaying the launch. They still promise to honor existing pre-orders.

NEOGEO AES+ Delayed as PLAION Expands Production
The NEOGEO AES+ is a modern remake of the classic console that brought arcade games home in a more complete package than ever before back in the mid-90s. In a press release, Ben Jones, Commercial Director at PLAION REPLAI, said they didn’t want to make this announcement, but they explored every other option and believe this is their best path forward.
We explored every option to maintain our original timetable. In the end, we concluded that launching with severely constrained availability would not be fair to our community. Taking additional time allows us to secure more memory chips while expanding our manufacturing. Most importantly, everyone who has already pre-ordered keeps their priority place in the production queue. Had we launched in November, we would not have been able to deliver NEOGEO AES+ to customers at anything close to the scale we believe the community deserves. The truth is that demand far exceeded even our most optimistic expectations. The retro gaming community truly is fantastic.
Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available. Are you looking forward to picking up one of these consoles when it releases? Sound off about this story and all others in our official Discord server.
